This BUFFALO DRUM is out of the Iron Eyes Cody estate. It came from Cody's "MOOSEHEAD MUSEUM". In the picture you can see it hung over Iron Eyes head. The side of the drum with the Buffalo and Peace Pipe was painted by Clarence Ellsworth. Clarence was a very well know western artist and close friend of the Codys. The skin with the buffalo is signed "PAINTED BY CLARENCE ELLSWORTH MAY 14 1947". The other side's skin I would have it attributed to "IRON EYES". I reason this because the painting is quite elementary as compared to Ellsworth great work and is signed "IRON EYES". Also the blue and yellow on the rest of the drum would be at best "IRON EYES". The drum is 14 1/2" in round and 9" thick. Over the years some of the rawhide has spit and the picture show where a piece has broken. I do believe that the drum is a lot older than the 1947 date of Ellsworth.
